About me
I am liberal, meaning only that I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree through a traditional curricula, which prepared me for lifelong learning of skills that enabled me to enjoy a career of changing fields: Cryptologist, Naval Intelligence Officer and attache, Defense Systems Analyst, Information Systems Quality Analyst, and finally, Environmental Satellite Systems Software Quality Analyst. The common thread through these changing fields was my questioning attitude: what have I learned that applies to this new field, and what are the significant things I need to learn. Doing and learning became one. This page continues in the same manner.
Along the way, I got a Masters Degree in Governmental Administration during the dawn of the desktop computer era, which led to our current “hand-held” society. What I learned then kept me going beyond two more transitions.
On retirement, I turned to writing. The Looking Glass here is meant to be more than a catchphrase; it is a perspective and a tool to view American culture as others may not. I try not
come from the political left or right, but from the outside, making findings that often differ from the conventional wisdom.
I live in the Williamsburg, Virginia area with my wife, Marcia. We are in continual contact with our four children and their families. My son made me a present of this web page, for which I am very grateful.
